  • What are "Foil Cards"?
    They're cards with a shiny effect on their surface. They're often rarer than other cards.

    No, Weakness and Resistance are not applied when calculating damage to Benched Pokémon.

    Yes, you can play any number of Trainer cards. If you have several "Item" cards, "Technical Machine" cards, and/or "Pokémon Tool" cards, you can play as many as you like during the same turn. However, you can only play one "Supporter" card and one "Stadium" card during the same turn, in addition to other types of Trainer cards.
  • Can I put an Evolution Pokémon card in play if I don't have the Basic Pokémon (or previous Evolution Pokémon) in play?
    No, you can't. The Basic Pokémon (or previous Evolution) must already be in play. To evolve a Pokémon, put the Evolution card on top of the Basic Pokémon (or previous Evolution).
  • Is there a limit to the total number of Special Energy cards I can put in my deck?
    There is no limitation on how many different kinds of Special Energy cards you put in your deck, but there is a limit to how many copies of the same Special Energy card you can include: up to 2 copies for 30-cards half decks, and up to 4 copies for 60-cards standard decks.
  • Can a Pokémon retreat when it is Paralyzed or Asleep?

  • If my Active Pokémon gets Knocked Out during my opponent's turn, when should I send out a new Active Pokémon from the Bench?
    In this case, the Knock Out is confirmed and resolved during the opponent's turn.Knock Out resolution order goes as follows: you discard your Active Pokémon and all cards attached to it, your opponent takes a prize card, then you send out a new Active Pokémon from your Bench. If at this point you cannot send out a new Active Pokémon, you lose instantly.
  • When can I use Trainer Cards?
    You can use Trainer cards at any time during your turn, after you've drawn a card at the start of your turn, and before ending your turn with an attack or such.
  • Can my Pokémon retreat if it as less Energy attached than its Retreat Cost?
    No, a Pokémon can't retreat if it doesn't have enough Energy attached to pay its Retreat Cost. However, the effect of Trainer cards can be used to send it back to the Bench.

    Booster packs are product which contain randomized cards.   • What does the "hand" mean?
    Your hand is the cards you can use during your turn. Hold them in such a way that your opponent cannot see what these cards are, only their back.
  • What does "Confused" mean?
    "Confused" is a Special Condition afflicted to Pokémon by effects from the opponent's attacks and such. To show a Pokémon is Confused, turn the card upside down. When a Confused Pokémon tries to attack, flip a coin: if heads the attack happens normally, if tails put 3 damage counters (30 damage total) on that Pokémon instead.The Confused Special Condition can be healed by: - Having the Confused Pokémon retreat to the Bench - Evolving the Confused Pokémon - Using Item cards such as "Full Heal"
  • What is a "Prize Card"?
    They are the cards you place on the left side of your field. Place 3 Prize Cards when playing with 30-cards half decks, and 6 Prize Cards when playing with standard 60-cards decks. When one of your opponent's Pokémon gets Knocked Out, take a Prize Card and add it into your hand. The first player to take all of their Prize Cards win the game.

    The words "You" and "Your" usually refer to the player who owns the card.

    Many Pokémon can Evolve by placing an Evolution Pokémon card on top of them. When a Pokémon evolves, its name and appearance change, its HP increases and it becomes able to use stronger attacks. Once evolved, it can't used the attacks from its previous Evolutions anymore.

    They're a type of Trainer cards that stay in play after being played. Stadium's effects affect the whole field. You can only play one Stadium card per turn.

    A Standard deck is a 60-cards deck. It can contain up to 4 cards with the same name. When playing with Standard decks, games are played with 6 prize cards per player.
