The long-awaited Pokémon Championships 2022-23 Hong Kong English will be held this 4 June 2023. Are you ready to become the Champion?

Championship points will be awarded to the top finishers in the tournament. Depending on the total number of points earned, you can qualify for the Pokémon World Championships.

Note-taking & Internet-connected devices

As an anti-cheating measure in all Pokémon Trading Card Game official events in Asia, during matches players are not allowed to take notes or use devices that can connect to the internet. Players are also asked not to place on the tables any items not required for play.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in creating a fair and pleasant play environment for everyone.

Tardiness

Players who have not checked in by the end of Round 1 will not be able to participate in the rest of the tournament.
Note that players who check in late, but before the end of Round 1, might still be denied participation depending on the state of the tournament (number of participants, etc.)
If a player is not seated at their table when a round starts, they will be considered as having lost the match.
※ In that case, if by the end of that round that player has not expressed their intent to keep playing, they will be considered as having dropped from the event.

About Championships Points	The CSP table referenced will vary depending on the number of participants in the tournament. Participation

Capacity	up to 200 players
How to participate	Pre Registration is required through the Trainers Website. If the number of applications exceeds capacity, the lottery will choose participants. Click here for details on how to enter. We will accept walk-in registration on a first-come-first-served basis if space is available after pre-registration ends. Pre-registering participants will be a priority. Please cancel your registered slot in advance through My Page on the Trainers Web if you wish to cancel.
Conditions for Participation	You must show proof that you are a resident of Hong Kong. You must know the rules of the Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Registration Period	Registration Start : 20 April 2023 Registration Close : 28 May 2023
Registration Results	After pre-registration closes, please check your My Page space to see if you’ve been selected.
Available Cards to be used	Pokémon Trading Card Game English version only (multilingual language cards are prohibited) Pokémon TCG Banned Card List
Deck List Submission	Players whose participation has been confirmed are required to submit their deck list through the My Page space on the Trainers Website 2 days before the tournament day. Penalties might be issued if the deck you use during the tournament doesn’t exactly match the submitted list.
Items to bring	Tournament-legal deck Identification ID Coin Damage Counters Markers (Poison Marker, Burn Marker, VSTAR Marker) Spare sleeves No rental equipment will be available at the venue on the day of the event.
Important Information	In order to participate, you will need to create an account on the Trainers Website for your region and get a Player ID. Only one application per person. Fraudulent behavior, creating multiple accounts to apply more than once, could incur a penalty of up to a suspension from all upcoming events.

Tournament Structure

【Qualifiers】

Structure	Swiss rounds, Best-of-One (Bo1) The Top 16 players in the final Qualifiers rankings will advance into the Top Cut.
Number of Rounds	Up to 7 rounds
Match Duration	25 minutes
Swapping Cards	Players cannot swap cards in their deck between rounds.
Match Resolution	Rules on Match Resolution for Bo1 match
Rankings	Win: 3 match points, Loss: 0 match points. A Draw counts as a Loss for both players. Players with the same number of match points will have their rankings decided with an additional calculation method.

【Top Cut】

Structure	Single Elimination, Best-of-Three (Bo3)
Match Duration	60 minutes

Other Requests to All Participants

Tardiness	Players who did not check in by the end of Round 1 will not be allowed to participate in the following rounds. If a player is not seated at their table when the round starts, that player loses the match. * If the player who was late doesn’t explicitly express their wish to continue playing in the tournament by the end of that match, they will be automatically dropped. * Participants who fail to show up on the tournament day without a valid reason may not be allowed to participate in future events.
During and between matches	Participants are required to check all of the following rules: Advanced Player’s Rulebook Floor Rules Penalty Chart Please follow instructions from staff members and sit at your designated table. Tables will be sufficiently spaced from each other. Submitting match results A staff member will come to retrieve the match slip. Please remain seated after the match is over.
COVID-19 Policy	Please refrain from entering the venue if any of the following applies to you: People with a fever (of 37.2°C or higher) People with symptoms such as a sore throat, headache, joint pain, breathing difficulties, coughing, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, and loss of smell or taste. We also ask that the elderly and those with chronic illnesses, who are more at risk of severe symptoms, exercise the utmost caution when considering attending the event. People who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 14 days. People waiting for the results of a PCR test or antigen test for COVID-19 People who were in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19. People living with family or close acquaintances who might have COVID-19. People who have traveled in the past 2 weeks to a region on the government’s list of areas subject to denial of entry or requiring quarantine upon return Likewise, people who have been in close contact with a resident of such regions
