The New Trainer Journey is an exciting new experience for all budding trainers who just started playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game, as well as for those who want to try it out for the first time!
From gathering cards, to playing with friends, into the path to maybe even becoming World Champion...This event will give you all the support you need to start your grand Pokémon TCG journey in the best way possible!

Trial Battle
No need to know the rules yet! You'll be guided through your first exciting Pokémon TCG Battle.
Basic Battle
If you're just starting, this is for you!
Mega Evolution Demo Battle
If you already know the rules, you're welcome to start here too!
STEP 2
Go to a Pokémon TCG Gym!
People who participated in Step 1 can then go to a Pokémon TCG Gym store and participate in a Pokémon TCG battle to be gifted a set of prizes! Your first step as a Pokémon TCG player comes with a welcome gift!
Your journey starts here! No need to bring anything, we've got everything you need for you to enjoy your first battle experience!
You can pick between two types of battles to try out depending on your level.
Basic Battle
(Recommended for newcomers!)
Using 30-card decks that cover the basics of the Pokémon TCG, try out matches using simple rules. This is perfect for people who want to get an idea of what the Pokémon TCG feels like!
Mega Evolution Demo Battle
(For those who want the full experience!)
Enjoy battles with more strategic depth, using 60-card decks featuring the latest Mega Pokémon cards! This is the perfect opportunity for those who already have a basic knowledge of the rules and want to try out stronger decks.

The deck used for the Step 1 Mega Evolution Demo Battle is for rental only and is not handed out as a prize.
Just by participating in the event, you will be gifted a selection of useful play items!
- 30-card Basic Battle Decks (set of 2)
- Large metallic coin
- Set of paper damage counters

While at the event, create a Trainers Website account and follow the official Trainers Facebook social media account to receive a voucher that can be exchanged at Pokémon TCG Gyms for premium items that make your battles even better!
Vouchers can be redeemed at Gyms after participating in a Pokémon TCG event!
Step 2 Reward Voucher for:
- Original Deck Box
- Set of Original Card Sleeves
- One set of rewards per participant.
- Participants who already have a Trainers Website account are not eligible, unless they are accompanied by a player who does not have a Trainers Website account yet – in which case both participants can each receive a set of rewards.

Pokémon Gym Store Prize
Participating in Step 1 gives you a "Step 2 Reward Voucher" which you can redeem at Gyms for an Original Deck Box and a set of Original Card Sleeves after participating in a Pokémon TCG event!
New friends are waiting for you at your local Gym store!
Pokémon TCG Gyms hold regular events for new players. Staff members will be there to guide you, answer your questions, and help you meet new battle partners. Now that you've learned how to play in the first step, enjoy fun battles with your local community of players!

If you already have a Trainers Website account, you are not eligible for those rewards. However, you will be eligible if you attend Step 1 with someone who does not have a Trainers Website account yet – in which case you can both receive the "Trainers Website account creation bonus".
I already have a Trainers Website account. Can I just create a new account to receive the Step 1 "Trainers Website account creation bonus" rewards ('Step 2 Reward Voucher' redeemable for an Original Deck Box and a set of Original Card Sleeves)?
No, you can't create an additional account. As specificed in the Trainers Website Terms of Use, players can only have one account at a time. Players who are found to have duplicate accounts may be subject to penalties, including a suspension of their account.
