  • When two cards have the same name and same artwork, but one of them has a foil effect and the other doesn't, does it make a difference?
    If both cards have the same text written on them, rules-wise there isn't any difference between the two.
  • What are those cards that just have a type symbol and nothing else?
    Those are Basic Energy cards. You need them to make Pokémon attack or retreat.
  • What do type symbols means?
    Type symbols indicate a Pokémon's type. When written on the left of an attack, they can also indicate the type of Energy needed to use that attack.
  • Why do Pokémon cards have different colors?
    Different Pokémon have different types, which is indicated by the card's color. There are 11 different types in total.
  • I don't know what is what on a Pokémon card. How do you read it?
    Above the Pokémon card's artwork, on the top left side, you can see the name of the Pokémon and its Evolution symbol. On the top right side, you can see how much HP it has, as well as its type symbol.Below the artwork you will find the Pokémon's attacks, along with those attacks' Energy cost and damage. On the bottom of the card you can see that Pokémon's Weakness, Resistance and Retreat Cost.
  • What are Pokémon's "attacks" and "damage"?
    Pokémon have attacks that they can use in battle.They can deal damage to the opponent's Active Pokémon equal to the number written on the right side of the attack. The Pokémon that took damage has its HP reduced by that much. If a Pokémon has taken damage equal or above its HP number, it gets Knocked Out.
  • Should each player have their own deck? Or do you share one deck for two players?
    Each player plays with their own deck containing a set number of cards.
  • How does a match of Pokémon Card Game go?
